The average American Hello Kitty fan doesn't know that the company that makes Hello Kitty, Sanrio, also makes a wide variety of other cute characters! It's blasphemous, I know, but this ignorance is even present in my own house among my own friends and family! I am so ashamed! Anyhoo, every year Sanrio holds a contest for fans to vote for their favorite Sanrio character. I'm not 100% positive, but I believe the voting is only open to Japanese fans. The results are listed below. After seeing how Japanese fans voted, I can't help but wonder how the results would turn out if the contest was global. I hope one day Sanrio holds a global contest. I feel bad sometimes that other characters don't get the recognition they deserve here in America!
Super happy tho that Jewelpets placed in the top 10. I'm really surprised that they ranked as high as they did. Jewelpets are pretty much unknown here in the USA...which makes me sad because Jewelpet Tinkle is one of my favorite shows ever!
I would like to make a personal shout out and congratulations to Charmmy Kitty who just missed out making the top 10 (placed 11th)! Charmmy is one of my favorites, but also is not marketed very much in the USA at all.
